What other perks do they have that I can take advantage of?
When you open your brokerage account, you are going to have to request the
ability to trade options. As a protection to you and to me, brokerages now
require that you apply to be able to trade options so that you prove yourself
capable. More importantly, they need to make sure you fully understand what
you are getting yourself into using marketclub. That way, if something like the S&L crisis of the
early 90’s happens again and you lose all your investment in options, you don’t
come back on them.
With that said, they are going to ask you to fill out an application in
marketclub where they
ask you for your options trading experience. Now, you are probably asking,
“How do I get experience if I can’t trade options until I prove I have
experience?” It’s circular thinking, isn’t it?
Here’s the scoop with marketclub. You take up paper trading using marketclub. Paper trading is where you give yourself
$10,000 on paper to invest. Then, on paper, you buy and sell options, diligently
recording in log form the date you opened or closed your trade. You log the options
descriptions and tickers you bought or sold, as well as the number of options
contracts you bought or sold and the price you paid or made.
Once you have a handful of paper trades in your log using the marketclub trading
system, you will use that as the
experience you refer to in your options trading application. Just as a note, I paper
traded for over a year before using my real money. Today, I still paper trade when,
for one reason or another, I want to be in a trade, but I don’t want to invest real
money in it. Paper trading is a legitimate way to gain experience in trading.

open with an endorsement for trading options, the last piece to the puzzle is
good charting software.
Actually, one of the best charting software out there is free and online. Visit BigCharts.com and click on the interactive charting link. This is a good
system to start with.
The next level, of course, is to get a data feed from the markets and have a
charting software that resides on your computer. Vector2000, MetaStock, Swingtracker and TradeStation
are examples of these. TradeStation integrates in access to your brokerage
account so that you can make trades right from within your charting software,
all at the click of the mouse.
We’re almost through with this strategy.
The last tool you need to be a successful options trader is a robust link to
ongoing education whether it be through an investment group, a mentor, or
the best yet, a full-service investment community with mentors and peers —
like what we have at TradingTrainer.com.
Having a place where you can share your latest insights and learn about others, a
place where you can be introduced to the latest time-saving techniques or
investment tools, and most importantly, just having another set of eyes, another
perspective on moves in the markets and particular trades, is invaluable.
Successful options traders never go it alone.
These are the tools you’ll need to be a successful options trader. When you’re
ready to move on, let’s go to Strategy Four.
